Next Stop: City Bus photographer application.

My name is Julian Winslow. I'm a freelance photographer/artist based on the Isle of Wight.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this brief was the memory of my mother bringing me to Southampton for the first time as a very young child and being mesmerised by the fact that the buses weren't green.

It's that sense of familiar yet different, of wonder that I'd like to bring to this project.

Much of my personal work at the moment is concerned with time (*space/time) and the moment but how that moment can be stretched or compressed to reveal our reality from a different standpoint, to take us out of the mundane and attempt to reconnect with the wonder.

The project contains many ingredients that interest me and I feel that the life/human heart of it, the passengers, the interaction, those waiting, the drivers and those passing by are so, by the nature of their situation, graphically framed it presents a very rich photographic environment.

Other ingredients would include but not be restricted to;

A to B to A

In transition.

The beginning and end of the day.

Worlds within worlds.

All this would need to be held lightly and considered in the initial R&D period within the context of the final presentation, i.e. at the stops and on the bus which would shape and inform their final physical output.

Budget breakdown.

I live on the Isle of Wight so it would be cheaper for me to commute on a daily bases.

6 days at 23.40 per day (red funnel) = £140

6 days at £10 lunch =£60

It's impossible for me at this point to estimate print costs as I don't know how many are needed, what sizes would be required or the paper stock/print quality appropriate.

Some imagery I thought appropriate.

Taken from the "coffee table" personal project.
